[Home] [Project files] [Plugins] [Patches]

File area

Here you can find some files that might or might not be useful to you. :-)   Any patches are only used internally in the project for testing (or have been reported back to the authors of the program).  The Socialized.Net is not responsible for any damage any of these patches can do to your system, and do not guarantee that they even work.

They are, however, in daily use over here. :-)

Please email any comments on the patches to njaal at socialized.net.

Project files

Windows installer

A package with python, and everything is available here.

Download the file, unpack it somewhere and run "install.bat". This will install python (just press 'Next' all the time, if you don't have special needs), win32 python extensions and the TSN daemon. The daemon will be installed as a service on the system.

The installer will not yet install any plugins (see below), so you must install the ones you want (if you want any).

After the installation, press here

Download

Snapshots of the Socialized.Net daemon is available here.

Feel free to try the daemon, but it is an early version and it might not work at all. It has however been tested on various Linux machines, OS X, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Documentation is rather scarse at the moment, but the online help pages might be helpful.

Installation

The manual installation procedure can be found here. Windows users can use the windows installer.

Plugins

TorrentSearch for Azureus

Azureus is an Open Source bittorrent client written in Java.   This plugin provides searching for BitTorrent files directly from the Azureus client. The plugin automatically shares active bittorrent files through The Socialized.Net. Note that this plugin will only allow searching within TSN (or Azureus clients with the plugin running). If you don't find what your are looking for, it might still be there. :-)

You do not need to forward any ports for the TSN daemon to work, but if you want to give other users access to your torrents, you must forward port 8002 if you are behind a firewall or NAT.

In order to have permanent searches (automatically resent by the daemon), you must still use the [web interface] (require a running daemon).

Install by using the Installation wizard (under 'Plugins') in Azureus and select "from file".
Sorry about that, unzip the file into your azureus plugin directory, the wizard does not work on this file.

Firefox search

Firefox is a very popular web browser from the Mozilla crew. It is small, fast and very nice. The Socialized.Net daemon supports importing bookmarks from the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. This plugin adds a "TSN" search to Firefox (in the search bar top right).

If you do not have the Firefox browser installed, you can install it from the Mozilla homepage. Firefox runs on Linux, OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Installation is done by opening [this link] from the Firefox web browser.

To configure bookmark import, click [here] (Requires a running TSN daemon.)

GAIM TSN protocol patch

GAIM is a popular multi-protocol instant message application. This patch gives GAIM support for Instant Messaging through TSN. It also allows the TSN daemon to provide feedback when new replies for permanent queries arrive. It is rather experimental at the moment, and should only be used by people with a special interest. :-)

TSN provides a fully distributed instant message protocol, with ad-hoc support et cetera. It might not be quite functional yet, but is made available [here] for testing. Enter the GAIM source directory and apply (patch -p1 < gaim-1.2.0-tsn.patch).

The patch is tested with Gaim 1.1.0 to 1.2.0 under the Linux operating system. It should work on Windows as well, but this has not been tested.

Patches

Xine

Xine is an Open Source video player for Linux.   There are two patches here, xine-lib which gives the xine engine IPv6 support (at least the mpeg and avi part).  Regardless of your front-end, any hostname that resolves to an IPv6 address will work.
This patch was added to the official release of Xine from version xine-lib-1.rc1

The Xine-ui patch is for the Xine graphical frontend.  It is really just a patch for literal IPv6 addresses (rfc 2732), but is necessary to specify IPv6 addresses on the commandline.  The TSN client needs this in order to open IPv6 linklocal links...

XMMS

XMMS is an Open Source Multimedia player for Linux.  This patch enables IPv6 literal addresses according to rfc 2732.  Again, this is experimental, but seems to work nicely.
